Video Tutorial
Step 1: Accessing the Text Extraction Tool
To get started, locate the icon labeled ‘extract text’ in FileDrop. This can be used on files already uploaded to FileDrop or inserted through the menu function.
Step 2: Extracting Text from Your Document
Click on the ‘extract text’ icon to begin processing your file. The duration of this process can vary depending on the file’s size and other factors. In my example, I used an invoice. The tool successfully extracted all text from it.
Step 3: Utilizing the Extracted Text
Once the text is extracted, you have several options:
- Insert the text into any cell in your document. For instance, select cell F4, and the text will be placed there.
- Copy the extracted text for use elsewhere.
- Download the text in various formats like plain text, a Word document, or an Excel file.
Step 4: Translating and Formatting the Extracted Text
The extracted text can also be translated into different languages. For example, I translated a Romanian invoice into English and Spanish. Post-translation, you can download the text in your desired format and language.
Step 5: Finalizing and Using the Extracted Text
After the translation and formatting, the text can be inserted where needed. In my demonstration, I inserted it into a cell (F4), and all the text fit perfectly in there.
Conclusion
That’s it! A simple yet effective way to extract and use text from your documents in FileDrop. Do you think this feature will be useful in your workflow? Are there specific use cases you have in mind? Please leave a comment in the section below and let me know your thoughts.
