FileDrop Updates for February 2025

This is the first update blog for 2025, and this kind of sets the tone for what is coming to FileDrop. Starting with January we have worked more on upgrading the current features we have and making them a bit better.

FileDrop Add-on Updates

We released version 1.9.9.1 of the FileDrop Workspace Add-on. What is in this update:

New Exif Data Extractor for Google Photos

This is a new feature added to our Image Kit sidebar. To use feature just add album name and click the button to extract the EXIF data from your Google Photos. It might give you an error if you have albums with over 2000 photos.

The Library Tab displays only the latest files added to Drive.

We made a fix that was long overdue in the Library Tab of the main screen. Now it will display the latest files added to your Google Drive no matter the folder where the file is.

Improved Free Rename Files feature

Our rename files feature is pretty popular but some changes in the Google tech we are using was causing some trouble and we had to refactor it. Now I think it is a bit quicker and works better overall.

Speed improvements for all operations

We made a change and upgraded to the latest Drive API v3, and this should improve a lot of the features by 20-30%.

Some features will be further improved, but we take it step by step, including the licensing when starting the first sidebar.

AI and Translation sidebars are removed

We introduced these features in 2023 and 2024 but were the least used by users. There were just a few updates to make these better than what the other add-ons have.

We are retiring these two sidebars to focus more on file management and file processing and offer the best product in this space.

Bug fixes

We fixed some small bugs here and there, but nothing major.

FileDrop File Processing Platform

Currently we provide 11 tools for file processing to our users. The most important tool added is the Document Conversion tool which allows multiple types of conversions.

Currently our cloud integrations allow the import of files from different sources like Google Drive, Dropbox or  Onedrive and we are working on integrating Zapier first and then Make.com.

That’s it for today, if you have any feedback for us or need help, please get in touch.

Coffee vs. FileDrop   – The Productivity Showdown

The Bottom Line:
One keeps you awake. The other gets work done.

A month of coffee: $150
A month of FileDrop: $9.99
Why not have both?
